Red and Pink

an art illustration for a poem. An abstract red circle with pink pastel squares.

The medicine woman drowned my sorrow into

The wild waves. She threw some salt around me

And eagles were soaring around the blue mountain

As she was singing a healing song

It was quiet and gentle and I felt I could melt

Into the ground beneath me , the joy was falling

From all 4 corners of my chest.

I reached out my hand and I received

A simple colorful stone. It was red with shades of pink

It felt cold but it burned a hole trough my hand

Fell to the ground and became big like a cave

I entered the dark red path that opened

And inside I was feeling wild like a storm

I was raging while going deep inside this red hot

Pink shades corridor.

I was deeply surrounded, why did I even said yes

When this medicine woman offered me her hand

I hear her singing gently as I walk my steps

Her heart is speaking to me she asks if I want to keep going

And of course I say yes.

Keep walking, keep going deep into the redness of the cave.

The center seems near and I enter a black room with curtains

A simple beautiful candle lights the whole room

It seems like it’s been burning forever, I go straight to it

And it turns to a flame embracing me

The light fills the whole space, there’s nothing

But light and me.

I hear a whisper asking me softly.

Do you want to keep going?

By this point I am mad so of course I say I do.

Light turns to rainbows, I lose myself fully

In all the shades of green purple yellows

I have nothing to say but laughter flows out of me

And my feet are dancing and my hands are free

There’s nothing more I could wish for

And in my greatest moment of ecstasy

I return in my body, back to the earth near the blue mountain

The old medicine woman looks strangely exactly like me.
